SBIE 20 Anos - Repensar, Reciclar, Reutilizar e Revitalizar
Do Logo a WEB 2.0.

International Workshop on Middleware for Pervasive Mobile and Embedded Computing

International Workshop on Middleware for Pervasive Mobile and Embedded Computing
http://www.smartlab.cis.
A Workshop of Middleware 2009
Urbana Champaign, Illinois, USA
November 30 - December 4, 2009
Problem Space
Building on the success of the previous editions of MPAC and MobMid, this event combines the thematic areas of the two workshops and aims to develop a research roadmap on essential middleware abstractions and platforms for pervasive mobile and embedded systems.
In recent years, the rise of relatively powerful mobile communication devices like mobile phones, mobile Internet devices, and netbooks, as well as several types of embedded devices, like TV set-top boxes, iPods, Kidle, etc, has enabled a wide spectrum of novel pervasive applications, such as healthcare monitoring, sport tracking, context-aware collaborative computing, etc. Moreover, with the rise of cloud computing infrastructures developers have also started exploring the possibility of empowering resource-constrained mobile devices with such infrastructures offering unlimited storage and computing resources.
Developing practical applications for this kind of devices is still in most cases a complex and time-consuming process. Many of the existing applications have been built in an ad-hoc manner and without any possibility for code reuse. As the number and type of mobile and embedded devices, and pervasive applications increases, so does the need to enable interoperability among them. Identifying appropriate middleware abstractions and organizing successfully used protocols, algorithms, and software modules into generic middleware platforms can facilitate application development, foster software reuse, and enable rapid prototyping of pervasive applications.
It is unclear and in many respects still an unexplored research area to what extent traditional middleware services can be provided on these devices. Porting existing middleware architectures to these new computing platforms turns out to be often infeasible. Instead, a thorough reconsideration of middleware abstractions and their supporting infrastructure is needed to allow applications to make effective use of the available computational power, memory, communication technologies, integrated sensors, etc. An ideal middleware platform should be capable of handling the resource constraints of these devices but at the same time exploit their unique features such as availability of location information, embedded sensors, mobility, spontaneous interaction, context-awareness, etc.

CFP: III Simpósio Nacional de Tecnologia e Sociedade
viernes, 22 de mayo de 2009
Curitiba, PR - 10 a 13 de novembro de 2009.
O Programa de Pós-Graduação em Tecnologia ? PPGTE ? da Universidade
Tecnológica Federal do Paraná ? UTFPR ? convida pesquisadores(as),
A transformação social

(ASCWKM 2009)
In conjunction with the
IEEE International Conference on Digital Information Management
(ICDIM 2009)
http://set.utbm.fr/index.php?pge=402
Michigan, USA
November 1-4, 2009
------------
Overview
------------
Building on top a first successful edition in 2007, a second edition of
the ACW workshop is now being proposed. This new edition resumes the
topics proposed in the previous edition of the workshop and it aims at
renewing the success in terms of quality of submitted paper and
discussion during the event. It is now more focussed on knowledge
engineering issues underlying collaborative works and it aims at a
broader range of applications from business intelligence to eLearning.
In today's challenging global market, companies have to innovate in
order to improve competitiveness and business performance. They must
bring innovative products to market more effectively and more quickly to
maximize customer interest and sales. The pressures to reduce time,
improve product quality, and lower costs have not gone away; they are
being reaffirmed and folded into programs that focus on delivering the
"right" product. Companies must continue to enter new markets with
innovative products. This requires leveraging and reusing the
product-related intellectual capital created by partners working
together. Business innovation must occur in several dimensions: project
organization, product definition, production engineering, ergonomics
design, environmental impacts, etc.
Several approaches exist for supporting companies in this innovation
challenge. They are mainly based upon Knowledge Management techniques.
Agents and Multi-Agent Systems may offer solutions to model (multiple)
organisations involved in collaborative design activities. Agents may
also support the capitalization process and constitute knowledge bases
transparently for the users.
This workshop will focus on the use of agents and multi-agent systems
for modelling and supporting collaborative activities in all working
contexts, such as, design activities, eLearning, etc
-------
TOPICS
-------
A non-exhaustive list of topics for the workshop includes the following:
1. Methods and Models:
* Agent based CSCW

===============================================
Presentación
============
