*Introduction*

The 11th International Conference on Music Information Retrieval, ISMIR 2010, will be held at the Utrecht University, The Netherlands, from Monday, August 9 to Friday, August 13 2010.

The annual ISMIR Conference is the premier international forum for those working on organizing and accessing digital musical material. The ISMIR conferences reflect the tremendous recent growth of available music-related data and the consequent need to search within it to retrieve music and musical information efficiently and effectively. Music Information Retrieval (MIR) concerns are of interest to academia, industry, entertainment, and education. ISMIR therefore aims to provide a place for the exchange and discussion of MIR issues, developments and results, by bringing together researchers and developers, educators and librarians, students and professional users, working in fields that contribute to MIR's multidisciplinary domain. It is increasingly realised in the MIR community that music only becomes music by its processing by the human mind, and that studying the human processing of music is a key issue in innovative MIR research. Therefore, papers on musical cognition and perception that contribute to the human understanding and experience of music are especially welcomed.

*New Special Paper Category*

New this year, ISMIR 2010 is soliciting a special category of papers: State-of-the-Art Reports (STARs). Unlike regular papers which should focus in detail on specific aspects of MIR research, STAR papers will provide a state-of-the-art overview of a broader MIR problem area. Only a few STAR papers will be selected. A STAR paper will be presented in an oral presentation.

* Submission must consist of original contributions (not previously published and not currently being considered for publication elsewhere).
* Submitted papers must be no longer than 6 pages long, STARs no longer than 12 pages.
* All papers will be peer-reviewed according to their quality in terms of novelty, technical content, and presentation.
* The reviewing process of regular papers will be double blind: the reviewers remain hidden to the authors, and the authors must remain hidden to the reviewers.
* All accepted regular papers can be presented as a poster.
* From the accepted papers, a selection will be chosen for oral presentations as well.
* Authors of accepted papers will be asked to provide camera-ready copies of their papers for inclusion in the proceedings.
* For each accepted paper, at least one author must register for the ISMIR 2010 conference prior to submission of the camera-ready version.

We will seek opportunities to publish selected papers in one or more suitable journal special issues.


*Call for tutorials*

It is the goal of the ISMIR 2010 Tutorial Program to offer conference attendees and local participants a stimulating and informative selection of introductory or in-depth tutorials reflecting current topics in MIR. These tutorials will be presented by subject matter experts and will reflect the high academic and research standards of the ISMIR 2010 conference. We encourage submissions of tutorial proposals on all topics in the general areas of music information retrieval, especially tutorials bridging these areas, or presenting new perspectives in these areas. However, tutorials on musical cognition and perception that contribute to the human understanding and experience of music, or that make creative use of MIR research, will receive particular attention.

Tutorials will be held Monday, August 9, 2010 (the day preceding the main conference). Tutorial day will consist of parallel sessions of half-day tutorials each concentrating on a single topic and lasting approximately 3 hours, including a break.

Tutorial proposals should be emailed to ismir2010-tutorials@ismir.net as PDF files containing a 1-2 page abstract including:
* an outline of the tutorial content,
* the intended and expected audience,
* short biography of the presenter(s),
* whether the tutorial has been give before or elsewhere, and
* any special requirements.
Presenters are strongly encouraged to include aural music examples in their tutorial presentations (preferably using copyright-free or copyright-cleared examples). Tutorial presenters are expected to create substantial supporting materials for distribution to participants.

Background and Goals:

Business process management (BPM) technologies are considered as one of the key success stories in providing process control and monitoring functions, and addressing complex integration requirements in enterprise systems. However, the expectation of what this technology must deliver is a moving target. Whereas the success of coordinative processes depends upon the conformance to the prescribed control flow, the success of the collaborative process depends upon the ability to detect and react to changing conditions. What was true for workflow systems is no longer acceptable in the dynamic and cross organizational requirements for management of collaborative processes. The trend is going towards agile, responsive, and (self-)adaptive business processes which are able to make use of existing context information in order to align to changing business requirements. BPM has become a very extensive area with several specialized aspects. This workshop intends to provide a forum wherein challenges in flexible, context-aware, and collaborative business process management can be debated. We seek papers that present innovative technology solutions to these challenges based on well justified practical
assumptions and sound theoretical foundations.

Submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of significance, originality, technical quality, and exposition. Papers should clearly establish the research contribution, and relation to previous research. Position and survey papers are also welcome.

We particularly solicit approaches to context-aware, agile, responsive, and adaptive business processes. Below we provide a list of relevant topics, however papers outside these topics but within the general scope of the workshop scope will still be considered.

Format of the Workshop:

The workshop will consist of oral presentations, discussions, and invited talks. The workshop will also provide opportunity for demo sessions, where presenters can showcase advanced prototypes based on their research.
Submission of Papers
All papers must be written in English, and the length of the paper should not exceed 5,000 words or 10 pages (including figures and tables). Instructions for preparing the manuscript (in Word and Latex format) are available at the ICEIS web site. Papers (in PDF format) should be submitted online through the ICEIS online submission system (http://www.insticc.org/Primoris/). In addition, an email must be sent to all workshop chairs including: title, authors' affiliation, and an abstract of the paper submitted.

All accepted papers will be published in workshop proceedings book with an ISBN#, which will be printed by INSTICC Press. The proceedings will be available at the time of the workshop. Important Dates:

Computing systems including hardware, software, communication, and networks are growing towards an ever increasing scale and heterogeneity, becoming overly complex. Such complexity is getting even more critical with the ubiquitous permeation of embedded devices and other pervasive systems. To cope with the growing and ubiquitous complexity, Autonomic Computing (AC) focuses on self-manageable computing and communication systems that exhibit self-awareness, self-configuration, self-optimization, self-healing, self-protection and other self-x operations to the maximum extent possible without human intervention or guidance. Organic Computing (OC) additionally addresses adaptivity, robustness, and controlled emergence as well as nature-inspired concepts for self-organization.

Any autonomic or organic system must be trustworthy to avoid the risk of losing control and retain confidence that the system will not fail. Trust and/or distrust relationships in the Internet and in pervasive infrastructures are key factors to enable dynamic interaction and cooperation of various users, systems, and services. Trusted/Trustworthy Computing (TC) aims at making computing and communication systems as well as services available, predictable, traceable, controllable, assessable, sustainable, dependable, persistable, security/privacy protectable, etc.

A series of grand challenges exists to achieve practical autonomic or organic systems with truly trustworthy services. Started in 2005, the series of ATC conferences has been held at Nagasaki, Vienna, Three Gorges (China), Hong Kong, Oslo and Brisbane. ATC 2010 will include a highly selective program of technical papers, accompanied by workshops, panel discussions and keynote speeches. Established as a premier venue in the area of autonomic and trusted computing, ATC 2010 will offer a forum for researchers to exchange ideas and experiences in the most innovative research and development in these challenging areas and includes all technical aspects related to autonomic/organic computing (AC/OC) and trusted computing (TC). Topics include but are not limited to the following:

- AC/OC Theory and Models:Models, negotiation, cooperation, competition,self-organization, emergence, verification etc.

PAPER PUBLICATION
Accepted main conference papers are planned to be published by Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS, EI indexed).
At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register and present their work at the conference, otherwise the paper will not be included in the proceedings.
The workshop proceedings will be published by IEEE (EI indexed).
Selected papers, after extension and further revisions, will be published in special issues of prestigious journals.
