======================================================================
* Submission of manuscripts: Friday, May 21, 2010
* Notification of acceptance: Friday, July 2, 2010
* Deadline for final version: Friday, July 30, 2010
* Date of workshop: Monday, August 30, 2010
Networks of computers are the most common and available parallel architecture now. Unlike dedicated parallel computer systems, networks are inherently heterogeneous. They consist of diverse computers of different performances interconnected via heterogeneous network equipment providing communication links with different latencies and bandwidths. Traditional parallel algorithms and tools are aimed at homogeneous multiprocessors and cannot be efficiently used for parallel computing on heterogeneous networks. New ideas, dedicated algorithms and tools are needed to efficiently use this new type of parallel architectures. The workshop is intended to be a forum for people working on algorithms, programming languages, tools, and theoretical models aimed at efficient problem solutions on heterogeneous networks.
Authors are encouraged to submit original, unpublished research or overviews on Algorithms, Models and Tools for Parallel Computing on Heterogeneous Platforms. Manuscripts should be limited to 10 pages in Springer LNCS style sheet and submitted through the EasyChair Conference System: https://www.easychair.org/login.cgi?conf=heteropar2010. Accepted papers that are presented at the workshop will be published in revised form in a special Euro-Par Workshop Volume in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series after the Euro-Par conference.
The topics to be covered include but are not limited to:
* Heterogeneous parallel programming paradigms and models;
* Languages, libraries, and interfaces for different heterogeneous parallel programming models;
* Performance models and their integration into the design of efficient parallel algorithms for heterogeneous platforms;
* Parallel algorithms for heterogeneous and/or hierarchical multi-core systems;
* Parallel algorithms for efficient problem solving on heterogeneous platforms (numerical linear algebra, nonlinear systems, fast transforms, computational biology, data mining, multimedia, etc.);
* Software engineering for heterogeneous parallel systems;
* Applications on heterogeneous platforms;
* Integration of parallel and distributed computing on heterogeneous platforms;
* Experience of porting parallel software from supercomputers to heterogeneous platforms;

The 25th Annual ACM Symposium on Applied Computing (SAC 2010)
Lausanne, Switzerland - March 22-26, 2010
http://www.acm.org/
For the past twenty-four years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world. For the third year, the ACM SAC will have a specific track on robotics. It aims to be a forum for researchers to share experiences, expose issues, and discuss about this exciting research field.
Robotics is a multidisciplinary area of study that presents an enormous commercial and research potential. While industrial robotics covers the study, design, and use of robot systems for manufacturing, mobile robotics concerns about developing systems that are capable of making decisions and acting autonomously in real and unpredictable environments to accomplish determined tasks. In the last decade, technological advances made possible the development of very efficient sensors and electronic devices at affordable prices. This fact has great impact on robotics research, allowing the development of efficient and relatively cheap sensors and computing devices. It also allows robots to accomplish more complex tasks, posing new challenges to scientists and engineers. This track focuses on all aspects of robotics, including related areas and applications.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Rehabilitation Robotics
Humanoid Robotics
Underwater Robots
Search and Rescue Robots
Entertainment Robots
Multi-robot Coordination
Active Perception and Vision
Coverage and Deployment

Call for Papers
The rapid development in information science and technology in general and in growth complexity and volume of data in particular has introduced new challenges for the research community. Many sources produce data continuously. Examples include sensor networks, wireless networks, radio frequency identification (RFID), customer click streams, telephone records, multimedia data, scientific data, sets of retail chain transactions, etc. These sources are called data streams. A data stream is an ordered sequence of instances that can be read only once or a small number of times using limited computing and storage capabilities. These sources of data are characterized by being open-ended, flowing at high-speed, and generated by non stationary distributions.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
We are looking for original, unpublished work related to algorithms, methods and applications on data streams. Topics include (but are not restricted)to:
Data Stream Models
Data Stream Management Systems

THE 25th ACM SYMPOSIUM ON APPLIED COMPUTING
22-26 March 2010, Sierre, Switzerland
ACM SAC'10
For the past twenty-four years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing
has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists,
computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers
from around the world. SAC 2010 is sponsored by the ACM Special
Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is hosted by the
University of Applied Sciences, Western Switzerland (HES-SO)and the
Ecole Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) Sierre, Switzerland.
ORIGINAL PAPERS (Double blind reviewed)
Authors are invited to submit original papers in all areas of
experimental computing and application development for the technical
program via the various tracks hosted by SAC 2010. Peer groups with
expertise in the track focus area will blindly review submissions to
that track. Accepted papers will be published in the annual conference
proceedings. The submission must not identify the authors (self-reference
should be in the third person) to facilitate double blind review.
Authors are allowed up to 8 pages according to the paper template,
but more than 5 pages in the camera ready version will be
charged 80USD per extra page.
MULTIMEDIA AND VISUALIZATION TRACK (MMV)
The themes Multimedia and Visualization are concerned with principles,
tools and processes that improve our ability to understand, create,
manage, visualize and maintain multimedia in general and interactive
media in particular. The aim of this track is to bring together
researchers from academia and industry who are actively engaged both
in theoretical and practical aspects of these multidisciplinary
themes, including those interested in discussing issues relative to
Human-Media Interaction. Topics of interest and and further
information is found in the track website
(http://www.icmc.usp.br/~acmsac/mmv10)
MTAP JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE
As in the previous edition of the MMV Track at SAC'09, the Multimedia
Tools and Applications Journal (MTAP) will publish a special issue
with papers from the ACM SAC'10 MMV track: authors of the best papers
will be invited to submit a substantially extended version for their
work to the special issue
(http://www.springer.com/computer/information+systems/journal/11042).
