CALL FOR PAPERS

Brazilian Symposium on Bioinformatics (BSB) will take place in Rio de Janeiro
in 2010, and it is the fifth conference in this series. Before that the conference
was called WOB (Workshop on Bioinformatics) which occurred from 2002 to
2004. Since 2005 the conference is called BSB and has published its proceedings
as a special issue of the series Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (Volume
3594/2005, Volume 4643/2007, Volume 5167/2008, and Volume 5676/2009).
BSB 2010 aims to attract contributions from academic and industrial researchers
in computer science, mathematics, statistics, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics,
microbiology, and medicine.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
Sequence analysis, motifs, and pattern matching
Biomedical text mining
Biological databases, data management, integration
Biological data mining
Structural, comparative, and functional genomics
Protein structure, modeling and simulation
Gene identi cation, and regulation
Gene expression analysis
Gene and protein interaction and networks
Molecular docking
Molecular Evolution and Phylogenetics
Computational systems biology
Computational proteomics
Statistical analysis of molecular sequences
Algorithms for problems in Computational Biology
Applications on molecular biology., biochemistry, genetics, and associated subjects

The proceedings of BSB 2010 will appear in a special issue of the series Lecture
Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI), published by Springer-Verlag, Germany.
As in the previous editions, BSB 2010 will accept two kinds of contributions:
full papers, with up to 12 pages, and extended abstracts, with at most four
pages. Accepted full papers are expected to be presented in the conference, and
extended abstracts will be presented in poster sessions. The program committee
may accept as extended abstract a paper originally submitted as a full paper. In
this case, authors may choose to accept the decision and modify the manuscript
accordingly, or drop the submission. Manuscripts should be written in English
and follow strictly the formatting instructions found in the site of Springer-Verlag,
under "Instructions for Authors".

IMPORTANT DATES:
Deadline for paper submission: April 11, 2010
Noti cation for acceptance/rejection: May 9, 2010
Deadline for nal paper version: June 6, 2010
Conference: August 30 to September 3, 2010
