The First International Conference on Parallel, Distributed and Grid
Computing (PDGC-2010) will be organized at Jaypee University of
Information Technology, Waknaghat, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India.
PDGC-2010 will serve as an international forum for researchers and
practitioners interested in recent advances in the areas of parallel,
distributed and grid computing. It will provide an opportunity to
present and exchange advanced scientific and technological information
in hardware, software and theoretical foundation in these areas.


Location:

Jaypee University of Information Technology is located at Waknaghat,
Solan, Himachal Pradesh 173215, India. It is situated near Shimla (24
Km) just 3 Km off the NH22 (Delhi-Ambala-Kalka-Waknaghat-Shimla road).
Convenient airports are Shimla (30 Km), Chandigarh (100 Km), New Delhi
(350 Km) and Amritsar (350 Km).

Workshop Description
--------------------
There has been a relative explosion of personal multimedia data in recent times e.g. work documents, e-mail, personal images/videos, sensing devices to record biometric data when we go running, cell phone text messages, sensed data from the environment around us (air quality, our home energy usage), etc. Some of these technologies already potentially offer great assistance to those with memory impairments, with emerging results from the cognitive psychology field being very encouraging. The most significant missing element is the technologies to give end users reliable, efficient and high-quality information retrieval over these personal media archives.

These archives pose new and unique challenges in that: data is likely to be multi-modal in nature (text, audio, photo, video, biometric, location, etc.); there may be a vast number of data items (a lifetime of data); items will often not be joined by inter-document links; the archive will contain much non-useful data that users will never want to see again; the archive will contain data about the user’s environment that they may not understand; the user may be unable to describe clearly what they are looking for; they may not even be aware that the data was captured and is available; and it may often be helpful to recommend content related to the user’s current context.

This workshop will provide a forum for researchers from different backgrounds to present and discuss their ideas relating to the IR challenges of effectively accessing personal media archives. We are interested in the report of current work including: development of new sensing devices and technologies to capture novel data of personal interest, algorithmic
research, user studies on the real-life benefits of efficiently accessing personal media archives, and also position papers on the place of personal media archive research within IR
or proposals for research strategies in this area. Submissions will be selected for presentation to reflect a spectrum of work and to encourage cross-disciplinary discussion in the workshop.



Aim & Topics
------
The aim of this one-day workshop is to foster discussion on issues related to personal media archives which capture access mechanisms to life’s experiences. We invite regular and position papers as well as demonstrations (accompanied by descriptive papers) on relevant topics, including, but not limited to:

- IR challenges in personal media archives (indexing and search)
- User studies on the human benefits of being able to efficiently access personal media data
- Scaling up to large archives (a lifetime of data)
- E-memories
- Sensors to record new pieces of information about our lives e.g. biometric, environmental, or reporting on those who are around us
- Accessing e-mails and personal desktop data
- Retrieval of personal feelings/annotations from blogs, twitter, and social networking websites
- Multi-modal and context sensitive retrieval
- Semantic concept detection within personal media archives
- Social network analysis for personal media archives
- Summarisation / re-telling of personal media data
- Structuring and organisation of personal media archives for browsing, search and retrieval
- Evaluation issues in accessing personal media data
- Challenges of retrieval in personal media archives from multiple devices (mobile devices, desktops, tabletops, display walls, etc.)
- Novel methods for interacting with personal media archives
- Usability and design of technology for personal digital memories

Submissions for the workshop must follow the standard ACM double column style guidelines. They shall be submitted in PDF format and not be longer than 8 pages. Papers will be submitted using the EasyChair system, http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iapma2010. In submitting a manuscript to this workshop, the authors acknowledge that no paper substantially similar in content has been submitted to another workshop, conference, or journal.

All submitted papers will undergo a double-blind peer review process. At least three reviewers from the PC members and external reviewers will evaluate the originality, significance, clarity, soundness, relevance, and technical contents of the submitted manuscripts.

Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings together with the proceedings of the ECIR 2010 conference. Based on the quality of the manuscripts, selected papers may be invited to submit to a special journal issue.

All accepted papers must be presented by one of the authors who must

In addition to regular sessions, participants are encouraged to organize
special sessions on specialized topics.
Each special session should have at least 4 or 5 quality papers. Special
session organizers will solicit submissions;
conduct reviews jointly with the HAIS´10 PC and in the same way
recommend accept/reject decisions on the submitted papers.

Systems (HAIS´10) combines symbolic and sub-symbolic
techniques to construct more robust and reliable problem solving models.
Hybrid intelligent systems are becoming popular due to their
capabilities in handling many real world complex problems, involving
imprecision, uncertainty and vagueness, high-dimensionality. They
provide us with the opportunity to use both, our knowledge and row

HAIS´10 will be reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The IEEE EDOC Conference is the key annual event in enterprise computing. EDOC conferences address the full range of engineering technologies and methods contributing to intra- and inter-enterprise distributed application systems. EDOC 2010 will be the fourteenth event in the series of conferences. Since 1997, EDOC has brought together leading computer science researchers, IT decision makers, IT architects, solution designers and practitioners to discuss enterprise computing challenges, models and solutions from the perspectives of academia, industry and government.

Enterprise computing is based on a wide (and ever growing) range of methods, models, tools and technologies. The resulting applications also cover a broad spectrum of vertical domains and industry segments, from electronic and mobile commerce to real-time business applications for collaborating enterprises. In recent years, technologies related to business processes integration, management, execution and monitoring have become some of the top areas of interest in enterprise computing. Today, the creation, operation and evolution of enterprise computing systems create challenges that range from high-level requirements and policy modeling to the deployment and maintenance of solutions in and across customer businesses.

The IEEE EDOC Conference emphasizes a holistic view on enterprise applications engineering and management, fostering integrated approaches that can address and relate processes, people and technology. The themes of openness and distributed computing, based on services, components and objects, provide a useful and unifying conceptual framework.

IEEE EDOC 2010 welcomes high quality scientific submissions as well as papers on enterprise computing industry experiences. Expert panel discussions and keynotes will address hot topics and issues in the domain.

IEEE EDOC 2010 will be realized in Vitória, ES, Brazil. Vitória is one of the three island capitals of Brazilian states, and is located in the Southeastern region, the most developed of Brazil. The city lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra do Mar mountain range and is strategically located close to the big urban centres of the country and is, on average, an hour by plane from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Two types of paper submissions will be accepted a) scientific research papers, and b) industry experience reports or case studies.
Scientific research papers should describe original results that have not been accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. These papers will be evaluated for scientific or technical contribution, originality, appropriateness and significance.
Experience reports should describe new insights gained from case studies or the application of enterprise computing technology in practice, contribute important feedback about the state of practice and how current research is applied, and pose challenges for researchers. These papers will be evaluated based on their appropriateness, significance and clarity.

All papers should be limited to 10 pages in length. All submissions must comply with the IEEE Computer Society conference proceedings format guidelines (http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting) (please use the latest template as there have been updates recently). Submissions must be in English.
Submissions should be made electronically in PDF format via the electronic submission system of the EDOC Conference Management system (hosted at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=edoc2010). All papers will be refereed by at least 3 members of the international program committee.

The conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press and will be accessible through IEEE Xplore and the IEEE Computer Society Digital Library. The IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the conference.


POST CONFERENCE PUBLICATION

The authors of a set of selected papers will be invited to prepare a substantially revised and extended version of their papers for publication in a special journal issue (details will be announced later). In previous years, selected papers from EDOC have been published in Springer's Information Systems Frontiers (ISF), Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), and International Journal of Cooperative Information Systems (IJCIS). Additionally, selected papers will be considered for publication of an extended version in a volume of Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) under the title "Trends in Enterprise Application Architecture".

The ACM/IEEE-CS Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL) is the major international research forum focused on digital libraries and associated technical, practical, and social issues. JCDL encompasses the many meanings of the term "digital libraries", including (but not limited to) new forms of information institutions; operational information systems with all manner of digital content; new means of selecting, collecting, organizing, distributing, and evaluating digital content; and theoretical models of information media, including document genres and electronic publishing. Digital libraries are distinguished from information retrieval systems because they include more types of media, provide additional functionality and services, and include other stages of the information life cycle, from creation through use. Digital libraries can also be viewed as an extension of the services libraries currently provide.

The theme of JCL 2010 is “Digital Libraries – 10 years past, 10 years forward, a 2020 vision”. This theme reflects the fact that the context in which digital libraries were originally conceived has significantly changed in the context of new information models embodied in Web 2.0 and popular social networking applications. In this spirit, we are especially interested in papers that address and demonstrate new models of collaborative, participatory information interaction increasingly ubiquitous in the Web 2.0 context.

JCDL 2010 invites submissions of papers and proposals for posters, demonstrations, tutorials, and workshops that will make the conference an exciting and creative event to attend.
